With over 20 years of litigation experience representing both Plaintiffs and Defendants, I bring a balanced perspective and deep understanding of civil disputes to every mediation.
After graduating law school and passing the bar in 2001, I spent five years as an insurance defense attorney handling medical malpractice, personal injury, and property claims. I gained valuable courtroom experience taking depositions, attending mediations, and trying cases to juries.
In 2006, I opened my own practice and spent 15 years as a solo practitioner representing clients on both sides of the bar. My practice included auto and motorcycle accidents, premises liability cases, contract disputes, DTPA claims, wage and hour matters, non-subscriber cases, and attorney fee disputes. I tried cases in small claims court, county court, and district courts across the Houston area, as well as in federal court in the Southern District of Texas.
Since 2021, I have devoted my practice exclusively to mediation. My years of trial experience, understanding what drives settlement decisions, preparing cases for trial, and evaluating strengths and weaknesses from both perspectives allows me to help parties find creative solutions and reach resolution efficiently.
Over the past 20+ years, I have attended hundreds of mediations representing both Plaintiffs and Defendants, giving me unique insight into what parties need to reach resolution.
Training & Professional Development
I am committed to continuous learning and growth as a neutral. I have completed the 40-hour basic mediation training certification multiple times through various local and national dispute resolution organizations, including South Texas College of Law (2022) and Mediation Works, Inc. (2023). I have also completed several advanced negotiation and mediation courses through Harvard Program on Negotiation.
I am an active member of the Association of Attorney Mediators and the Texas Association of Mediators, staying current with best practices and developments in the field.
My Mediation Practice
I have successfully mediated a wide range of disputes, including personal injury cases (auto accidents, premises liability, medical malpractice), commercial contract disputes, landlord/tenant matters, evictions, and estate disputes. My success rate exceeds 95% because I remain committed to the process beyond the mediation session—I continue working with parties in the days, weeks, and even months following mediation to help them reach an amicable resolution.
